Product Details

Everywhere you go in East Africa, you will see Kangas/Leso - a brightly coloured, rectangle of printed fabric with a Swahili saying.

Kanga are a vibrant part of daily life, used to carry babies, and layered as clothing. A Kanga carries great significance, as it marks the rhythm of Swahili life even from birth.

This Kanga has been produced in Tanzania and woven from East African cotton, and is directly traded from our sister fabric store in Dar es Salaam Tanzania. Our Tanzanian fabric store was opened in February 2020 in partnership with our Melbourne design studio. Thank you for your investment in our fair trade international small business.

The edges have been overlocked and it can be used this way - for a sarong, scarf, as a baby wrap or around the home as a play mat, a table cloth or as a decorative piece in your home . It can also be cut and remade into clothing, a cushion cover, bedding and bags.

The Kanga is cotton and has not yet been washed, we suggest you wash it by itself before using it and hang it immediately to dry.

Please note there are limited quantities of each Kanga. Colours may appear differently in photographs than on actual item. Due to the nature of this item it can contain small misprints and small weaving faults.

This listing is for one Kanga, not a pair.

Kanga dimensions:
58 inches (148cm) long
42 inches (107cm) wide

Care Instructions: cold wash on its own before use.
