Product Details
The Tusa Tribolube Syringe contains 57 grams (2 ounces) of PFPE grease for static and dynamic applications. Tribolube is designed for open and closed circuit diving systems.
Tribolube Oxygen-Compatible Lubricant
The Aerospace Lubricants Tribolube® line of products are designed specifically for scuba diving applications. Tribolube offers superior extreme pressure and anti-wear properties, thus extending equipment life by dramatically reducing corrosion. Tribolube is a synthetic lubricant that is chemically inert, oxygen-compatible, non-migrating, odorless, non-toxic, and non-flammable.
Tribolube is designed for open and closed circuit diving systems. This O2-safe lubricant is compatible with all O-ring seals and materials used in the scuba industry. Tribolube also offers significantly reduced residue buildup in comparison to other oxygen-compatible lubricants.
Tusa Tribolube Syringe primary characteristic is that it uses PTFE that has not been irradiated. Non-irradiated PTFE over long-term exposure has demonstrated it does not corrode aluminum or anodized aluminum. Tribolube has a very wide temperature range, non-reactive with strong acids, oxygen, fuels, and solvents. It is an excellent anti-wear, extreme pressure lubricant with long life.
Applications:
Tribolube is intended for use in scuba applications as well in small and large diameter ball, roller, needle, and plain bearings, threads, valves, gears, and screw actuators. It is compatible with most elastomers and plastic seals, gaskets and O-rings. Although this lubricant is very inert, newly exposed rubbing surfaces of aluminium and magnesium may react with the greases under certain conditions.
Tech Tip
How Much and Where to Use Lubricant
Some people very sparingly lubricate the SPG swivel-pin air-spool O-rings, but you should know that SPG and hose assemblies from suppliers are never lubricated. If you do choose lube the SPG swivel-pin airspool O-rings, take care not to be so generous that lube might migrate up into the Bourdon tube mechanism and cause your SPG to become inaccurate.
Some people also sparingly lubricate the threads of valves before they are installed in the cylinder neck. Do NOT lubricate the neck O-ring itself, and do not lubricate the valve/regulator seal O-ring or DIN threads.
Most lubricant is used with dynamic seals in regulators and other equipment with moving parts. As a general rule, the O-rings used with static seals in SCUBA applications should not be lubricated at all. The lubricant just causes contamination to stick to the surface of the O-ring and results in more problems with a static seal than any dubious benefit the lubricant might provide.
